Michael Nimmo entered the financial services industry just eleven days before the birth of his son, Christian—marking the beginning of a career that would span decades, multiple market cycles, and eventually four generations of family involvement in the business.
Early in his career, Michael joined the legendary firm EF Hutton, where his leadership abilities quickly stood out. He became the youngest branch manager in the firm’s history at the time and was later invited to lead EF Hutton’s renowned training program in New York City. But while the opportunity was prestigious, Michael chose a different path.
Rather than relocate his young family, he made the intentional decision to remain in the Midwest, believing deeply in the values and perspective that came with raising his children close to home and grounded in their roots.
That decision would shape not only his family, but eventually the culture and philosophy behind Nimmo Wealth Partners itself.
Over the years, Michael held numerous leadership roles with Wells Fargo and its predecessor firms, including Wachovia, First Union Securities, and Everen Securities, where he managed a complex of offices throughout the Upper Midwest overseeing more than $1 billion in client assets.
What began as a passion for mentoring and developing advisors gradually evolved into something more administrative and rule-driven. While Michael respected the importance of oversight and accountability, he missed the part of the business he found most meaningful: coaching people, building relationships, and helping clients navigate important financial decisions with confidence and perspective.
That desire eventually led him to transition from management back into advising, joining forces with his son and daughter to build what became The Nimmo Group at UBS. There, Michael served as Senior Partner, overseeing investment strategy and comprehensive planning while helping guide clients through both prosperous and uncertain markets with the calm perspective that only experience can bring.
When the team transitioned to Stifel in 2017, Michael intentionally passed the title of Senior Partner to Christian—another thoughtful step in the long-term evolution of the family business.
Today, Michael serves as a Senior Advisor of Nimmo Wealth Partners in a more consultative capacity, supporting the next generation of leadership while continuing to share the wisdom, market perspective, and strategic insight gained from a lifetime in the industry.
A lifelong student of markets, economics, and investor behavior, Michael possesses a rare ability to distill complex economic and market concepts into practical, understandable guidance. Clients value his steady demeanor, depth of experience, and calm presence during uncertain times—qualities that become especially meaningful when markets are turbulent and emotions are running high.
